Municipal Bylaws & Policies

I have extensive municipal bylaw drafting experience.  I draft, review, and provide advice on municipal bylaws of all types, including utility bylaws, traffic bylaws, nuisance bylaws, meeting procedure bylaws, animal and pet bylaws, community standards bylaws, road closure bylaws, local improvement bylaws, special tax bylaws and borrowing bylaws. I also assist in the development and review of municipal policies and procedures.

Municipal Governance

I advise municipalities on their legislative authority and assist them in achieving their goals and objectives.  This includes providing opinions related to compliance with the Municipal Government Act, meeting procedures and councillor conduct.   

Municipal Contracts & AGREEMENTS

I review, draft and advise on municipal contracts and agreements, including service agreements, operating agreements, leases, licenses, development agreements and road use agreements.  

Utilities

I provide advice and drafting services in relation to municipal and rural utilities.  This includes drafting and review of municipal utility bylaws, advising on infrastructure funding and utility rate setting, review and drafting of member and customer terms of service and advising on issues related to the ownership, placement and maintenance of utility infrastructure. 

Legislative Compliance

I help public and private bodies interpret and comply with the statutes, regulations and guidelines that govern the sectors that they work in. 

LAND TITLES MATTERS

I provide advice and assistance with a wide range of land titles matters, including utility rights-of-way, legal access issues, easements, restrictive covenants, caveats and encroachments.
